The GB in Connor meets on a Tuesday night.

The age groups are as follows:

Girls aged 3 to 7 meet from 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Girls aged 8 and over meet from 7.30pm to 9.30pm
(Ages are as at 1 July 2009)
All Girls Very Welcome

More about the GB

The Girls’ Brigade is a Christian youth organisation for girls of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. A varied programme of fun activities is offered, designed to educate, challenge and inspire young girls in a safe environment of Christian teaching. The programme is split into 4 main areas:

Spiritual

Physical

Educational

Service

Vision

Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland will be recognised as a dynamic, relevant, Christ-centred organisation effectively reaching out to all girls to value, nurture and equip them for life.

GB Aim

To help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, to find true enrichment of life.

Our Motto

“Seek, Serve and Follow Christ “

Principles

The Brigade acknowledges Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord according to the Scriptures and seeks to fulfil its aim to the Glory of One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Brigade witnesses to the standard set by Jesus Christ and gives positive teaching on the Christian attitude to life. The Brigade promotes a just society where all people are equally valued.

GB Badge

All over the world, Girls’ Brigade members wear the same badge. The badge has 4 main elements, each with a special meaning to those who wear it.

In the centre a Cross, the symbol of Christ and His Church.

Below it a Lamp, that our light may shine out upon the world.

Above the Lamp is a Crown, that we may own Christ as our King.

Behind all a Torch, the flame of Christ’s living Spirit and our devotion to Him.

The following age groups meet:

* Anchor Boys – for Boys aged 5 to 8 years from 7-8pm
* Junior Section – for Boys aged 8 to 11 years from 7-8pm

More about the BB

Each week The Boys’ Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. Today we are working with over 60,000 children & young people in over 1500 companies (groups) in the UK & Republic of Ireland every week.

The Boys’ Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old. These resources have been developed to help volunteer youth leaders work in a relevant and creative way. We hope through these programmes they will be able to make a positive contribution to a young person’s life and be able to share their faith.

Our work is split into age groups as follows:

* Anchor Boys – for Boys aged 5 to 8 years
* Junior Section – for Boys aged 8 to 11 years
* Company Section – for Boys aged 11 to 18 years

Where have we come from?

The Boys’ Brigade has been around for 125 years and in 2008 we are celebrating our 125th Anniversary. Our Founder Sir William Alexander Smith, included in our Object “The Promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness” and that has not been changed.

What has changed is how we go about promoting that object. We recognise that the influences surrounding our young people are not always helpful and that too many lose control at great cost to themselves, their families and the community. The answer is to catch the energy and enthusiasm of youth and to channel it purposefully.
Our Object

The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is:

“The advancement of Christ’s kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.”

Our Motto & Emblem

Anchor The Boys’ Brigade Motto is:
‘Sure & Steadfast’

The motto is taken from the bible, the book of Hebrews, Chapter 6, Verse 19.
